I was doing fine with the ‘current‘ version of WordPress. Really I do, and I don’t have any plan of upgrading to the latest version. I’ve even discussed this with my friend Jan last Sunday who said he already updated his blog to the latest version of WP, and said it was just easy. Jan, like me, is a self-confessed non-techie too.
So what made me change my mind and finally upgrade my WordPress version? There were warning signs all over the place! It’s like a fire alarm that won’t stop, and every corner you turn, there’s another alarm ringing.

CNN published the 12 most annoying types of Facebookers… upon reading them, it looks like I am an annoying Facebooker myself — because I am a lurker.
See if you have any of these characteristics of annoying Facebookers as classified by CNN.
1. The Let-Me-Tell-You-Every-Detail-of-My-Day Bore - I’m sure you have seen these types. Those who post every little muscle-movement. Stuff like “I’m having cereals for breakfast,” “I’m stuck in traffic,” and “Thinking of going to the movies.” Really now.
2. The Self-Promoter - I am partial to this because I do post updates on my blogs. But maybe CNN refers to those who ‘overdo’ it. As the article says: “almost EVERY update is a link to your blog, your poetry reading, your 10k results or your art show.” Sounds like ‘self-centeredness’ to me. I guess, anything in excess isn’t really good.

Last night, I can’t seem to log in to my twitter account. After a number of attempt, I thought that it was just undergoing maintenance… so I just let it be.
This morning, I tried logging in again… totally forgetting about the problem encountered with Twitter 10 or 12 hours ago… and what surprise I got!
I had a tweet which says “I just earned $152! Will update later http://sumdumurl.org”

Just like my other blogs, my so-called techie blog is only joining the ‘yellow ribbon’ movement as I post a yellow ribbon in this blog too.

This project was started upon the initiative of Reyna Elena and Barrio Siete and they ask every blogger to post a yellow ribbon on their blog as gesture of support for our former president Cory Aquino.
To participate:
- Create an entry entitled: “Touch a blogger: Tie a yellow ribbon for Cory Aquino!“. A link to this original entry will be appreciated, but is not required.
- Post a yellow ribbon in your blog for President Cory Aquino. Whatever form of yellow ribbon that your creative imagination can come up with.
- Invite other bloggers to tie a yellow ribbon for Cory.
And as you make your post, don’t forget to say a prayer for Cory Aquino.
Update: August 1, 2009
Former Philippine president Corazon Aquino passed away this Saturday morning at 3:18 AM at the age of 76.
Rest in peace, Tita Cory…. and please, pray for our country too…

It was supposed to be a “giant step for mankind” when US Astronaut Neil Armstrong walked on the moon on July 20, 1969. Unfortunately, the only video to record that milestone of an event was erased by NASA.
Fortunately, Hollywood came to the rescue and the video footage of man landing on the moon was revived.
From the same studio wizards who restored “Casablanca,” the video of the Apollo 11 and Armstrong on the moon was even digitally sharpened, cleaning up the ghostly and grainy footage of the moon landing, making it even better than what the was viewed on TV 40 years ago.
The reproduction of the video was done from four copies that NASA scrounged from around the globe.

And Dell has proven that! Because as the the title in this ComputerWorld article says: Dell Tweets Its Way to $3 Million in Sales. This only that, indeed, Twitter can be an effective marketing tool!
While the rest of us would use Twitter to tweet what we’re doing, like eating, writing, watching, or reading… or tweeting great discoveries we found on the net… or even sharing our latest blog masterpiece, Dell has other use for it.
Since 2007, when it becomes a member of the social media, Dell has been offering company specials as well as responding to customers’ queries. And just like that, the company was able to generate more than $3 million in sales which can be directly attributed to its Twitter activities.
