Yahoo updates mail, messenger and search facility
Just in case you haven’t noticed yet, there are series of changes in your Yahoo mail, messenger and search facility.
For the Yahoo Mail, several new social networking features have been incorporated. The redesigned Yahoo Mail now allows for status updates, as well as sharing articles with your contacts.
When you sign-in, you’ll see updates of contacts that are deemed important to you. You’ll see if they uploaded new pictures to Flicker, commented on a certain blog, or wrote a new post in his blog.
The series of upgrades unveiled by Yahoo is all part of its effort to make its core Web properties more compelling to users.
For the new Yahoo Messenger, it now boasts of high-quality video calling capabilities that let users connect through full-screen, face-to-face chats.
The search facility has also been updated to deliver search results that are relevant to users’ queries. One improvements is that it will be more predictive. For example, if you search for the words boat, canoe, paddle, and then kayak, Yahoo will know you are searching for kayak the boat. But if you search for hotel, flights, and then kayak, Yahoo will know you are searching for the travel web site, kayak.com.
Other updates include: a multi-select and drag-and-drop functionality that makes it easier to attach photos, view thumbnail previews and rotate images before you send them; and increasing the photo and file size limits from 10MB to 25 MB.
