US switched from analog to digital TV

By the time you’re reading this post, the big switch from analog to digital TV might already be finished.

Yes, US switched from analog to digital TV. It has pulled the plug on analog TV, making it nothing but a part of history.

Although earlier reports said that in spite of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), many homes were still expected to be experience blank screens on their TV.

The original schedule of the transition to digital TV was last February 17, which was moved by the Congress and President Barack Obama at the last minute.

For older TV sets, a digital converter box is required to be able to view shows on TV, which is said to be about $50-60. The US government has provided Americans with 40-dollar coupons, to make the switch less of a burden to them.

At present, there still could be some technical difficulties or disruptions. But these could be viewed as birth pains, and everything will smooth out in the coming days.

With digital television, viewers at home will have better picture and sound. The technology is said to free up airwaves for public safety agencies and advanced mobile Internet services.
