After Twitter, it’s now Facebook’s turn to save a life

We heard recently of how Twitter was instrumental in saving a life, this time, it’s Facebook’s turn to save a life.

The story of how Facebook saves teenager’s life doesn’t differ from the case of Twitter saving a life, except that there’s no celebrity involved here.

Typical actually, a British teenager took drug overdose, and was saved by his Facebook friend to whom he was chatting with on the online social network when he raised the alarm.

The suicidal teener, a 16-year old boy from Oxforshire sent a message to her American friend which says, “I’m going away to do something I’ve been thinking about for a while, then everyone will find out.”

The quick-thinking girl realized the seriousness of the situation, told her mother about it, who in turn called the local police.

The boy’s exact address was not know to the girl, but the call led to the White House and the British Embassy, which eventually led to the Abingdon Police Department who looked into the case.

Narrowing down his location to eight possible addresses, they found the teenager at the fourth house they tried. They found him still conscious though after taking drug overdose.

The boy, who has not been named, has now made a full recovery after hospital treatment.
