Space shuttle Discovery finally lifts off!

Space shuttle Discovery

After a delayed lift off due to a leaking gas line, space shuttle Discover finally launches!

The space shuttle Discovery lifted off last Sunday evening. It will be going on a mission to deliver needed supplies to the international space station.

The space shuttle original launched was supposedly last Wednesday, but it was cancelled then because of a hydrogen leak. It was however, I believe, a good thing that the leak was discovered while the shuttle is still on ground zero.

The shuttle has seven crews on board and they will be delivering the final parts needed for an expanded solar energy power system which is necessary for the space station to double its crew to six people. Japanese Koichi Wakata, one of the shuttle crew will also be dropped off there to replace NASA’s Sandy Magnus on the station.

Looking at the lift off picture above reminds of the science fiction films I used to watch when I was still kid. And yes, just like all kids, I also dreamt of becoming an astronaut someday and jump and bounce on the moon just like Neil Armstrong.

I hope they show this launch again on local news on TV tonight.

Update: Here’s a video of the launch I found on YouTube!
