Nobody really knows whether the April Fool’s day virus is real or just a hoax, but experts are not taking chances as they take to tracking down the virus seriously.

For them, the there’s no joke in April Fool’s Day computer worm.

With $250,000 bounty money from Microsoft, I know I will take this seriously.

Yes, the worm which is really called the Conficker Cabal or Conficker C has turned experts into bounty hunters as they banded together to track down the virus.

I still can’t quite picture it, but the prospect of not having to buy a game console to play my favorite games sounds good. That is how I understand the feature on Yahoo buzz where a new technology could make game consoles obsolete.

Microsoft’s Internet Explorer 8

Filed under: Announcement, Applications, News, Technology — Tags: , , , , , , , — Roy @ 8:30 am March 18, 2009

As if following the cue from Google who just released a faster version of the Chrome browser, Microsoft’s Internet Explorer 8 is about to follow suit.

That is because Microsoft is also prepared to release the latest Internet Explorer which is the IE8, and it is packed with new features. One of the main consideration in the updated version is the user’s safety and security in their online experience.

Just like Safari 2.0’s private Browsing and Google Chrome’s Incognito mode, IE8 blocks websites with tracking applications. A new feature called “InPrivate,” is a mode where users can prevent the browser from saving browsing history of sites visited. It also boasts of automatic crash recovery feature that recovers the last known websites visited by a user.

Although no announcement has been made yet, there were reports which indicated that Microsoft is set to release the final version of IE8 on March 19.

That is really what competition can do for you… even industry-leaders are kept on their toes as new and upcoming players are easily getting on their heels.

The one to benefit from this upgrades is of course, us — the end users. I have been using Firefox for quite a while now, but I might consider going back to Explorer once I hear good reviews about this IE8.
